On “Erospace” Crystal Quartez breaks from ambient music into the world of avant-pop. Infusing their trademark lush synth textures with dreamy vocals, spoken word, and flute merged under danceable beats. In it, Quartez explores what it would take to face what is broken, to birth a new universe. One that exposes love as core circuitry, skeletal, roots.
“I need to create Erospace because I need a place to live,” says Quartez about the inspiration for the album. A space where the Caribbean beats of their childhood can exist alongside the goth textures, dream pop, and queer experimental scenes that formed their sense of self. Utilizing their full range of sound design and synthesis prowess they construct a fresh and inventive world of compositions.
