Crystal Cortez is a process oriented composer, sound & visual artist. Regardless of medium, she uses her art as a tool to transmit healing energy and discover answers to life’s important questions. In her music she creates restorative sound rituals by hybridizing synth loops with field recordings and objects from her environment, resulting in auditory landscapes both alien and natural. Her approach found its home in the Portland underground experimental scene where the lines between music, noise and performance art are blurred. Crystal’s work has been shown at the Paragon Art Gallery (pdx), Teros Gallery (San Diego), PAM Residencies (LA) and has been performed throughout the midwest and west coast.
